Dia Sharaf ©️ 2023
Today we have the pleasure to have Dia Sharaf on Goathead
GH: What inspired you to start writing music?
Dia Sharaf: I started playing the piano at the age of six with the encouragement of my family and my mother in particular. I started composing at the age of twelve. I listened to classical music and fell in love with orchestral music. Since then, I have been composing and writing music mainly in the orchestral category. Then I started composing for pop music and electronic music.
GH: How is your process of songwriting set around?
Dia Sharaf: I first try to find inspiration from the world around me, and when that magical moment of inspiration occurs, I write down the ideas, then I try things out with the music to find the best version that translates the feelings of inspiration perfectly.
GH: What motivates you to create music and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?
Dia Sharaf: I think it is the search for continuous renewal and a kind of dynamism for the listener, and the search for new musical horizons.
GH: Could you share some insights into your next projects?
Dia Sharaf: I think that the next work will be more spiritual and not EDM, and I am determined to make a music video outside Yemen.
GH: How has traditional Yemeni music influenced your musical compositions?
Dia Sharaf: Combining traditional Yemeni musical elements with well-known international styles such as electronic or orchestral music has produced a completely new "world" style with interesting listening and musical experiences, and I think this is my musical fingerprint.
