Meet Godiva, a talented singer-songwriter who’s been making waves in the music industry with her emotionally charged lyrics and captivating performances. Having honed her skills over years of live gigs and personal experiences, Godiva is now fully focused on sharing her original music with the world. In this exclusive interview, she opens up about her journey, creative process, and what’s next for her.

GHR: Hi Godiva ! What inspired you to start writing music?

Godiva: Hey Goathead! I’ve been performing for over a decade now, doing everything from showcases and competitive singing to restaurant gigs. But alongside performing, I was always writing, hoping to be an artist one day. I first started writing songs and lyrics on my guitar, and I enjoyed it just as much as performing! Discovering Lana Del Rey and falling in love with her lyricism was a big turning point for me—it inspired me to take my writing seriously. Now, writing and sharing my original music is my main focus.

GHR: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live at gigs and what was the most memorable experience you had?

Godiva: I’ve been doing live shows for about six years. When I was 15-16, I learned enough material to start performing at local restaurants and bars. Over time, I made connections and started doing weddings, private events, and parties, which have been a lot of fun and very rewarding. One of my most memorable experiences was starring as June in a Johnny Cash tribute show. We toured the East Coast, selling out larger venues like the Thrasher Horne Center in Orange Park, FL. It was such a thrilling experience, but there have been so many more amazing moments, I wish I had time to mention them all!

GHR: How is your songwriting process set around?

Godiva: My process is really driven by my emotions. I write best when inspiration hits me, usually from something I’m going through. A lyric will come to me, and I’ll jot it down in my phone notes, or I’ll be playing guitar and a chord progression will inspire a line. I don’t always have a specific topic in mind at first—the song kind of evolves as I write. But I usually stick with the theme I start with and let the song take shape from there.

GHR: What motivates you to create music and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?

Godiva: My last song, "Other Side of Town," is really personal and based on someone I loved who had a big impact on me. So, I’d say my motivation comes from my experiences and my desire to express them through music. For me, songwriting is like painting with sound—it’s how I make sense of the world. I try to make my lyrics personal but also open enough that listeners can relate to them and apply their own experiences.

GHR: Could you share some insights into your next projects?

Godiva: I’m excited to share that I have a new song coming out in about a month! It’s an alt-pop ballad with some Americana vibes. After that, I have two more singles lined up—the next one is a bit sassier and more upbeat. I don’t want to give away too much because I love keeping my audience surprised! My plan is to keep releasing singles for a while to build up a variety of listeners.
