GHR: Hi Yago! Welcome To Goathead - What inspired you to start writing music?

Honest Yago: Hey there! Ever since I was a kid, I always found myself gravitating towards music in one way or another. Whether it was the radio, cassette tapes, or CDs, music always felt like a part of my life. My parents never put me through music lessons, and I didn’t join the band in school, so I didn’t really have any experience with playing or creating music until later in life.

It all began when I picked up someone else’s ukulele, just out of curiosity. After messing around with it for a bit, I ended up getting my own and teaching myself how to play through YouTube videos and online guides. From there, I started learning the chord progressions to my favorite songs, and everything just kind of clicked. There wasn’t a specific moment that set me on the path to becoming Honest Yago; it was more of a gradual exploration of my love for music.

GHR: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live at gigs and what was the most memorable experience you had?

Honest Yago: I haven’t performed any live shows yet, so I can’t speak much on that. But it’s definitely something I’m mentally preparing for, as it’s likely on the horizon. Performing live is a bit out of my comfort zone, to be honest. It’s not something I ever thought I’d do, but I’m slowly warming up to the idea. We’ll see what happens!

GHR: How is your songwriting process set around?

Honest Yago: My songwriting process revolves heavily around my ukulele. It’s how I created my first fully cohesive song, "Hold Me." I had about a week to write and record the entire piece, and my uke was essential in shaping the core composition. It helped me bring the song together in a way that felt natural and right. My uke has become my go-to instrument for songwriting because it just works for me.

GHR: What motivates you to create music and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?

Honest Yago: Like many artists, music is my way of expressing myself. It’s how I vent, share my experiences, and reflect on the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I create music because it helps me process life, and if my songs can help someone else get through tough times or bring a bit of positivity into their day, that’s what matters most to me.

GHR: Could you share some insights into your next projects?

Honest Yago: I’m super excited about my upcoming project! I just finished writing and recording it, and it’s probably one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made. It’s a little different—okay, quite a bit different—from my usual stuff, but that’s what makes it special. I had this moment of inspiration, and I couldn’t hold back. I ended up writing most of the song that very night. It’s still in the prep stages because I want to make sure everything’s perfect before I release it, but I can’t wait for people to hear it. Stay tuned—there’s a lot more to come!

Honest Yago’s journey into music is one of curiosity, self-discovery, and a passion for creating art that resonates with others. As he continues to evolve as an artist, his music remains a reflection of his unique experiences, and fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next from this exciting talent.
