Today we have the pleasure to have Meluva On Goathead !

GH: Hey Meluva, What first inspired you to start writing music? Can you take us through the journey that led you into songwriting?

Meluva: Hey Goathead! Music has always been an essential part of my life, and due to my multilingual background, I’ve always been into languages. Around 2017, I started finding an interest in singing and songwriting, which was also when I discovered artists like Billie Eilish—she had just released "Ocean Eyes." Her musical expression, especially at such a young age, made me want to explore songwriting more. As I began facing challenging emotions, I turned to music as an outlet.

GH: When it comes to songwriting, what does your creative process typically look like? Is there a pattern or method you follow when creating a song?

Meluva: It often begins with a specific feeling. I ask myself how I can capture that emotion in a musical way. Once I understand the emotion I want to express, I find words that naturally come with a melody in mind. From there, I build out the rest—adding chords and giving it structure. Sometimes the process works the other way around too, like when you find yourself humming a tune in the shower, and before you know it, lyrics follow. Both approaches are part of the same creative flow. The key for me is to embrace whichever direction the process takes me—experiment, have fun, and let the music grow from emotions and ideas.

GH: Music often serves as a voice for various life experiences. What drives you to create and bring awareness to different situations through your songs?

Meluva: To summarize it in one word: life. Experiencing different things motivates me to create, because without art, there’s no life, and without life, no art. Situations I’ve been through or heard about inspire me to create a musical reality where those feelings are confronted. Songwriting helps me work through hardships but also brings awareness to beautiful aspects of life, like love or simplicity.

GH: Many aspiring artists face challenges on their journey. What advice would you give them to help push through those tough times and grow as creatives?

Meluva: Always remind yourself why you started. Challenges are inevitable, but your passion and determination will carry you through. It’s also important to support yourself with people who share your vision—having a circle of people who understand your passion makes the process less lonely. Dream big and don’t let the doubts of others hold you back—your determination will take you further than others could imagine. Most importantly, be authentic. Authenticity resonates with people, so don’t be afraid to be vulnerable in your art. Don’t agree to things that don’t feel right, and remember that your path is yours to shape.

GH: You’ve shared some great insights into authenticity. Do you have any personal songwriting tips to help others refine their craft?

Meluva: Instead of just telling a story, focus on making people feel the story. Use metaphors and stylistic tools to capture the essence rather than describing events literally. This deepens the emotional connection and allows listeners to interpret the song in their own way. Challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone—explore new genres, experiment with different chords, and take creative risks. This is how you’ll find your true potential. And above all, enjoy the process of discovering new sides of your artistry.

GH: What can your fans look forward to from your upcoming projects?

Meluva: I’m excited to share what’s on the horizon! First, I’ll be releasing a short acoustic EP with some of the first songs I wrote four years ago. It’s a way for me to show where this journey started, but also to move forward with more recent projects. After that, I’ll be releasing newer songs, possibly with a few collaborations. I’m also planning to organize a local release concert, set for next year or the year after, which will be a bigger project. I’m eager to extend my community on social media and connect with more people who share the same passions.

Big thanks to you guys, Goathead Records in LA for discovering my music and giving me the opportunity to do this interview. I’m excited for everything that’s to come!
