Today We Have The Pleasure To Have Kaleb Here On Goathead!

GH: Hey Khaleb, Welcome on Goathead! What inspired you to begin writing music?

Kaleb Stark: My inspiration to begin writing came from a desire to make an impact on the world and be a voice and friend to those who need uplifting or release.

GH: Can you tell us more about your experience performing live, especially the memorable one at the funeral?

Kaleb Stark: My experience performing live consists of many performances at church, and mini concerts at festivals or bars in the downtown area of my hometown of Lafayette, LA. My most memorable experience was performing at a funeral, which was for my wife's 17-year-old cousin who had passed from an accidental fentanyl overdose. The cathedral was filled with people, and I just remember being so honored to have been able to do that for him. My upcoming album consists of 12 tracks inspired by or written for him.

GH: How do you typically approach the songwriting process?

Kaleb Stark: My process of songwriting begins with a melody, usually on the piano. I like to challenge myself and assign myself a prompt or topic that I'd like to play around with. I then begin experimenting with different "gibberish" phrases to play with different timings and tones. And then I write the story.

GH: What motivates you to create music and convey messages of hope?

Kaleb Stark: My motivation is to bring a voice of hope and comfort to the world, as broken and hopeless as it can seem at times. I write a lot surrounding depression and anxiety, loss, but I put an angle on it that adds a sense of hope and assurance. I want people to know that they matter, as do their experiences and trauma, whatever that may be.

GH: Could you share some insights into your current and upcoming projects?

Kaleb Stark: My current project addresses the topic of grief and loss, and the struggle to move ahead with life in the aftermath that follows. My next project is going to be a collection of songs dedicated to my lovely wife Erin, a contemporary fusion of classical and electronic music. They convey the ups and downs of being in a relationship, and the raw feelings of how a marriage can be as it grows.

Thank you for sharing your journey, Khaleb. Your music and its meaningful themes are sure to touch the hearts of many.
