GH: Welcome to GOATHEAD, Ryley! Let's dive in. Music has clearly been a part of your life for a long time. Can you share what it truly means to you?

RYLEY HALL: Music gives me a place to express what I am feeling. It allows me the freedom to say what I can’t say to other people in real life.

GH: When did you start learning guitar?

RYLEY HALL: I began learning to play guitar at the age of 16.

GH: Tell us a bit more about your first gig.

RYLEY HALL: My first gig was opening for my guitar instructor at Olmos Barmacy. I was incredibly nervous but loved the energy from the audience. This made me want to continue to perform.

GH: What is it like for you to play live shows?

RYLEY HALL: Playing live shows is both exhilarating and frightening because you never know what is going to happen or how the audience is going to respond.

GH: Do you have a particularly memorable performance?

RYLEY HALL: My most memorable experience was at my album release party. It was the first time I performed my original music. I felt very accomplished and received so much love and support from friends and family.

GH: How does your songwriting process work?

RYLEY HALL: Songwriting comes through my dreams, life experiences, and stories that I hear from friends and family. I am constantly creating voice memos and writing down whatever ideas come to my mind. Then, I work on developing the structure of the song and defining the concept.

GH: What motivates you to create music?

RYLEY HALL: Just by being human and responding to my surroundings motivates me to make music. Life is always moving and sometimes as humans, we forget that we all need to slow down and feel our emotions. I truly feel as songwriters, we give people a way to connect with their feelings and emotions in a safe place.

GH: What can we expect from your next project?

RYLEY HALL: I've been really busy promoting my latest project that is titled “The Rain”. The video came out Sunday. It is a very personal song, based on a relationship that just wasn’t working. I’m also continuing to write new music and hope to release another single by the end of the year.
