Today we have the pleasure to have JDHD on Goathead

GH: Great to have you here! What inspired you to start doing music?

JDHD: I became inspired to do music both from the music my parents played around me as a child, which was mostly R&B, jazz, and hip-hop, and from my Uncle, who made music himself.

GH: Could you share your experience from your recent gig?

JDHD: I recently performed my first gig ever. I remember how nervous I was on the stage and I look at that nervousness fondly because I pushed through it and I can use it as a learning experience.

GH: How do you approach the process of songwriting?

JDHD: My songwriting process is usually just coming up with initial concepts for songs and verses and then putting lyrics together to express the idea. I’m not really one to come up with lyric ideas first but to come up with song ideas first and build around them.

GH: What motivates you to create music and address various themes in your songs?

JDHD: The motivation mostly comes from my own personal experiences and from keeping track of what my friends are going through and what is going on in the world. I feel like music can really help ease the stresses of life so I try to tackle as many of them in songs as I can.

GH: What's on the horizon for your music projects?

JDHD: I’m in the planning phase of a new album at the moment. I think the main focus of the album will be on identity and self-discovery.
