From Experimentation to Expression: How TWO29 Discovered Their Creative Voice

GHR: Great to have you here. What first inspired you to start making music?
TWO29: I’ve always had a creative drive. Over the years, I’ve tried my hand at many artistic endeavors but never found the right medium. I had made small samples and songs sporadically through apps, games, and other tools—always enjoying the process but never taking it too seriously. After sharing some of my work with a close friend, they encouraged me to pursue it more seriously. When I finally invested time and money into proper DAWs, I found that I couldn’t stop… I absolutely fell in love with it. And now, here I am, only a year later!
GHR: Do you have experience performing your music live?
TWO29: Unfortunately, I have zero experience performing. To be honest, I’m not even sure how I would go about performing my music, as I consider myself more of a studio artist, primarily creating instrumental tracks. I have a couple of upcoming songs that incorporate vocal samples, but I haven’t experimented much with my own lyrical abilities yet.
GHR: Can you walk us through your songwriting process?
TWO29: My songwriting process usually starts with just fooling around. I go through phases of high productivity and other periods where I feel creatively blocked. I don’t follow a specific structure or set of rules—I just start with something that sounds interesting or cool and build from there. I often create numerous iterations, each taking on a life of its own. In a way, the music writes itself. Sometimes, a song comes together effortlessly in no time, while other times, it takes weeks or even months to refine the final sound.

GHR: What keeps you motivated to create?
TWO29: I have a deep drive to create. I love music, and being able to express myself through it is a dream come true. I’m not necessarily driven by success but rather by the desire to convey emotion. I believe music is a fundamental human experience, making life so much more meaningful. To be able to create that experience for others is like the cherry on top of it all.
GHR: What can we expect from you next?
TWO29: Right now, I have two singles released—sort of a test bed for the process and reception. I’m currently working on putting together an EP that I’m very excited about. I’m nearing completion, just adding the final mix/master touches and finalizing my vision for the finished work. I’m hoping to release it around the end of April or early May! It will feature seven tracks—some of my favorite works yet.
