Young N’ Proud - A Conversation With Talented Singer-Songwriter Sophie Herndon.

Sophie Herndon ©️ 2023

Today We Have The Pleasure To Have This Great Artist Here On Goathead!

GH: Sophie, can you tell us about what inspired you to start writing music?

Sophie: I've been inspired to write music from a very young age, as far back as when I was 4 years old. I think some of my interest in music comes from my creative family, but overall, I see music as the way my brain processes emotions. Whenever I feel any type of way, I can sit down at the piano and let it all out.

GH: Have you had much experience performing your original music live?

Sophie: I've had some experience performing my own songs live, although I mostly sang in choirs and had solo opportunities before. But performing my original songs is incredibly fun. I've had the chance to perform once before for Make Music Madison, and I hope to get more opportunities to share my songs in the future.

GH: Can you describe your process of songwriting?

Sophie: My songwriting process doesn't follow a set formula. I write whenever I feel inspired or need to express my emotions.

GH: What motivates you to make music?

Sophie: My motivation for making music often stems from going through personal experiences. Turning those experiences into music helps me feel better and more resolved in my emotions. Sometimes it even helps me understand what I'm going through better. Knowing that others can relate to my songs and that they might help others through similar situations makes me feel great.

GH: Can you tell us about your next project?

Sophie: Certainly! My next project is on its way. My new single, "Used to Know," is an edgy pop song that I had a lot of fun writing. It's set to be released on all streaming platforms on October 14th. I'm also working on a larger project that I'm excited to announce towards the end of this year. Stay tuned for more details!
